Here's my latest painting that I've been working on this last week. I was drawn to this photograph for several reasons. First I thought it was funny how these businessmen are all standing and taking notice of something we can't see through huge awkward dark-rimmed glasses. Second, I was drawn to the complex shapes created by the fabic of the suits. It turned out to be a lot more difficult than I thought, and I ended up treating it more as a practice painting for faces. There's a good chance I'll go back in and alter a few things....

What's the scale of this painting? In my mind, it looks MUCH larger than your initial study panels. I hope so! Looks great - and you're definitely right about the awkward glances behind their glasses - and thier stances.. the fact that there really is no background or atmosphere also adds to this - just very peculiar w/all of these guys huddled in close, floating about staring off in the distance, unengaging w/the audience and yet it keeps your attention.

Nate - I like these a lot. The businessmen image is particularly good.
I've looked through all of your studies that you've posted and found myself liking most of them, but being especially intrigued by the carnival image. I think the composition was just so compelling. The rest of your studies are interesting primarily due to the subject matter and unique color tones, but the composition is very "snap and shoot". I'm interested to see which other studies you decide to do
