2 New Studies
I finished off two more study paintings this weekend.... The first picture with the boys having a picnic is a combination of 5 or 6 photographs from 1958 I got from my grandparents. The second is pretty much from one photo of an old carnival. It's my first to depart from the figure as the main subject. I'm not planning on going this direction but I thought the shapes and colors of the ride were worth a shot.... we'll see if I end up using it.

Nate - I love them - How big are these study paintings? The one with the helicopter ride is very compelling in layout and shapes.
Keep it up.
The color is awesome.. I love the placement of shades and values--the piece with the boys seems strangely flat, and yet you can feel space in the picture because of the color arrangement. Really enjoy both the carnival and picnic scenes--did you ever make them into larger paintings ? The pieces are really nice Nate.
